Teaching & Training

Philosophy

I believe that everyone can learn to code and work with data. My teaching approach emphasizes:

  • Hands-on learning: Practice with real datasets and authentic research problems
  • Reproducible workflows: Building sustainable research practices from the start
  • Inclusive pedagogy: Supporting learners at all levels
  • Open resources: Sharing knowledge and resources freely

The Carpentries

I’m a certified Carpentries instructor, teaching foundational coding and data science skills to researchers worldwide. I am also a Carpentries lesson maintainer on the Library Carpentry Intro to R lesson and a member of the Library Carpentry Governance Committee.

What is The Carpentries?

The Carpentries teaches essential data and computational skills for conducting efficient, reproducible research. As an instructor, I deliver workshops on the R programming language, Open Research and Data Management Skills.
