Abstract: This thesis examines the development of territorial oppida in south-eastern Britain during the Late Iron Age, focusing on how these large-scale enclosed settlements transformed both the physical landscape and social organization of the period. Using a combination of GIS analysis, social theory, and archaeological evidence, the research demonstrates how these sites were integral to broader processes of social and political change in the period leading up to the Roman conquest.
